I don't know whose family thinks this is their favorite chili, as our family likes them all, but this is a good recipe.
2 lbs beef, chopped into small cubes
1 lb pork, chopped into small cubes
1 lb ground beef
3 Tbs vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 large onions, chopped
1 med bell peppers, chopped
1 yellow chili, chopped
2 long green chilies, chopped
1 Tbs flour
2 Tbs red chili sauce
4 oz spicy tomato sauce
1 Tbs prepared yellow mustard
1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
3 Tbs chili powder (to taste)
1-1/2 tsp cumin powder
1 dash oregano
2 cans (10 oz) beef broth
1 can (19 oz) kidney beans
2 cans (19 oz) pinto beans
8 oz mushrooms, chopped (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
In a skillet, add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil and sear the meat. Add to chili pot.
Add another tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet and sauté garlic, onions, bell pepper, and chilies. Add to chili pot.
Heat remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in the skillet; add flour and brown. Pour in chili sauce. Stir until smooth and pour into chili pot. Bring to boil and add remaining ingredients.
Cook slowly 2½ hours, stirring often.
