Wonderful Maple Cookies

From my cyber friend, Star.

1  cup  butter, softened
1  cup  packed brown sugar
1  tsp  baking soda
1/8  tsp  salt
1  cup  maple syrup
1  egg
1  tsp  vanilla
4  cups  all purpose flour
1/2  cup  evaporated milk
6  Tbs  butter, melted
1  tsp  maple flavoring
4  cups  powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350°.
Lightly grease a cookie sheet. In a large bowl, beat 1 cup butter with an electric mixer on high speed for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Beat until combined, scraping bowl. Add maple syrup, egg, and vanilla.

Beat until combined, scraping bowl. Add maple syrup, egg and vanilla. Beat until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Using a wooden spoon, stir in remaining flour.

Drop dough by rounded teaspoon, 2 inches apart onto prepared cookie sheet. Flatten slightly. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until tops are set. Transfer cookies to a wire rack. Let cool.

For Icing:
In a medium bowl, using electric mixer, combine evaporated milk, 6 Tbs melted butter, and maple flavoring.  Add powdered sugar until mixture is icing consistency. Spread icing on cookies.

To Store:
Place cookies between sheets of waxed paper in an airtight container. Store at room temp for up to 3 days or freeze unfrosted cookies for up to 3 months. Thaw cookies, if frozen, and frost as directed.
