Four Star Peach Cobbler

3-1/2  cups  sliced peaches
1/2  cup  butter or margarine
2  tsp  baking powder
3/4  cup  milk
1-3/4  cups  sugar
3/4  cup  flour
Pinch of salt

Mix peaches with 1 cup sugar, and set aside.

Put butter in a 2 qt Pyrex baking pan. Put it in a preheated 350-degree oven to melt.

Make the batter by combining the remaining 3/4 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk. Pour this mixture over melted butter in Pyrex dish. Do not stir.

Put the sugared peaches on top of batter. Do not stir. Bake 45-50 minutes. The batter will rise above the peaches while baking.
